Build on the technical skills developed in your apprenticeship by completing coursework in communications, social science, behavioral science, and math or science. Work with an academic advisor to develop a plan that meets your individual needs and goals.

How To Apply

  • Apply online and pay the $30 application fee.
  • Submit a copy of one of the following to demonstrate your reading, writing and math skills:
    • High school GPA of 2.60 or above. Transcript must include completed coursework through the 11th grade.*
    • ACT, ACCUPLACER® or GED - 2014 Series (165 or higher).*
    • Prior college coursework may meet this requirement in whole or in part. Courses must be in the specific area(s), and you must have earned a grade of C or better (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) in the courses.*
    • If none of the above apply, sign up for the ACCUPLACER® placement test.

*Unofficial copies of these documents can be sent to admissions@wctc.edu.

  • Proof of eligibility:
    • Students currently enrolled in a WCTC apprenticeship: no proof of eligibility needed.
    • Current apprenticeship students enrolled at any Wisconsin Technical College System school: submit official transcript.
    • Apprenticeship completers: submit copy of Wisconsin Apprenticeship Completion Certificate issued by the Department of Workforce Development - Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards. Fax to 262.691.5123 or email to the Admissions Office.

What Makes This Program Unique

  1. This program is for those who are pursuing or have completed a registered trade apprenticeship consisting of at least 400 hours of paid-related technical instruction and three years of on-the-job learning.
  2. It recognizes the value of an apprenticeship by awarding 39 college credits, leaving just 21 credits to complete an associate degree.
  3. Credits from this program may transfer into bachelor’s degree programs at other institutions.

Program Pathway

Journeyworker Pathway

Earn credit for prior learning for the college-level knowledge and skills that you've already acquired through advanced high school classes, previous college coursework, self-study, military training work or volunteer experience.
