Truck drivers transport goods from one point to another, oftentimes traveling through multiple states and navigating adverse road and weather conditions. In this program, prepare to earn a Class A Commercial Truck Driver's License. Gain knowledge of federal and state regulations, safety procedures, hazardous materials, bills of lading, loading and securing, and air brake systems.

How To Start

Participants in this program must possess a valid regular driver's license, speak and read English, and be at least 18 years of age. Program students must obtain a Wisconsin Commercial Class A learner's permit to participate in the program.

Potential Careers

If you enjoy driving and have a clean driving record, possess the physical stamina to be behind the wheel for several hours at a time, and are interested in truck maintenance and mechanics, a career in the trucking industry may be for you. Those in this industry are good time managers and can work independently.

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • You may only drive within the state until you are 21 years old.
  • You cannot pick up shipping containers until you are 21 years old.

Career Salaries

$43,000 – $58,400 annually

Salary range estimates based on wages for related occupations in Waukesha County as reported by Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI). Individual wages may vary based on experience, industry, location and specific job requirements.

  1. Graduates may obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License; endorsements for hazardous materials, tankers and doubles/triples; air brake certification; and a National Safety Council Defensive Driving Certificate.
  2. Train in a state-of-the-art truck driving simulator that can replicate real-life high-risk situations within a safe environment before advancing to driving tractor-trailers with an instructor on area roadways.
  3. Participate in service-learning projects that benefit the community. In the past, instructors and students transported donated food to the Food Pantry of Waukesha.
