This is a partnership program with Milwaukee Area Technical College.

The radiographer is a technologist who produces images of the human body to aid physicians in the diagnosis of injuries and disease. In this program, learn to perform duties including positioning patients to acquire needed films, selecting appropriate X-ray exposure factors, aligning X-ray equipment, processing images photographically or electronically, and storing and retrieving images.

Please note: To be eligible for testing and/or licensing in the state of Wisconsin, you may be required to obtain a social security number.

How To Apply

Apply online and pay the $30 application fee.
Submit a copy of one of the following to demonstrate your reading or writing skills:
- High school GPA of 2.60 or above. Transcript must include completed coursework through the 11th grade.*
- ACT, ACCUPLACER® or GED - 2014 Series (165 or higher).*
- Prior college coursework may meet this requirement in whole or in part. Courses must be in the specific area(s), and you must have earned a grade of C or better (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) in the courses.*
- If none of the above apply, sign up for the ACCUPLACER® placement test.

Steps to Complete the Radiography Program

Apply and Become Admitted to the Radiography Program

Follow the "How to Apply" steps outlined above. Be sure to complete these steps by the date listed in the "Application Deadlines" tab.
Admission to the Radiography program does not guarantee seats in our core or clinical courses.

Complete General Studies Courses

Complete your General Studies courses. Have transfer credit? Check out Credit for Prior Learning.

WCTC students who enroll in a partnership program may enroll in general education courses at WCTC, then all credits transfer to Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) to complete program courses.

Take Pre-Admission Exam

Complete and successfully pass the TEAS exam.

Petition to the Program

Once you are awarded a seat through the petitioning process, you can begin your core courses. In order to begin core courses, you will need to successfully:

Petition to the Radiography program.
Complete a background check.

After successfully completing these steps and being awarded a seat through the petitioning process, you can begin your core courses at MATC. This is a full-time program including four semesters, a six-week summer session and a six-week externship. Explore answers to frequently asked questions.

After the Program

Students enrolled in this partnership program will graduate from Milwaukee Area Technical College, not WCTC.
Upon graduating, you will be prepared to take the entry-level certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiography Technologists (ARRT).

Potential Careers

If you are a self-motivated problem solver with good organizational skills, radiography might be for you. Radiography techs must also pay attention to detail and have strong communication and people skills. They work closely with other members of the medical team and interact directly with patients, making them comfortable and positioning them for X-rays.

Career Salaries

$53,200 – $74,800 annually

Salary range estimates based on wages for related occupations in Waukesha County as reported by Economic Modeling Specialists International (EMSI). Individual wages may vary based on experience, industry, location and specific job requirements.
