Course Delivery Methods

Would you like to take online courses, learn in a classroom, or do a little bit of both? You can filter courses by delivery method using the Course Search tool above. Click to expand "More Options," then use the "Course Delivery" drop-down menu.

You are on campus for face-to-face lectures at a scheduled time. All lectures and exams will be in person, on campus.

  • These courses are typically offered once weekly for three hours or twice weekly for 1.5 hours (for a three-credit class). Courses with labs may meet for a longer amount of time.
  • An in-person course may use computers to access the internet and other electronic media while in the classroom. As part of your coursework, you may be required to access additional online materials.
  • All assignments have due dates.

You can learn on your own schedule, within a certain timeframe. You are not required to come to campus or attend online meetings held at specific times.

  • The course syllabus and other course materials are provided online through Canvas. All assignments have due dates.
  • Most activities are asynchronous, meaning there is no scheduled class meeting time, although the course could involve scheduled activities such as online office hours, chats or other real-time presentations.
  • There are no on-site proctored exams for online courses. However, digital proctored exams may be required.
  • You are welcome to take advantage of on-campus resources but are not required to do so in any online course.

You are required to attend some in-person meetings on campus.

  • You can expect at least one-third of class time to be on campus at a scheduled time; exact percentages vary by course.
  • Some of the required course meetings may be delivered as live web-conference sessions. Please review the Zoom classroom expectations for participation requirements.
  • The course syllabus and other course materials are provided through Canvas. All assignments have due dates.
  • There may be on-site proctored exams during the scheduled class meeting times. Digital proctored exams may be required.

  • Online hybrid courses include required live video sessions. Please review the Zoom classroom expectations for participation requirements.
  • Attendance is required on specific dates and times for the live video sessions. These dates and times are indicated in the course description.

  • You will need a computer with reliable internet access and a microphone or headset.
  • While you may interact with your online courses via mobile device or tablet, a computer is required to complete coursework.
  • Some programs require students to download software. A webcam may be required.
  • You may be required to take exams at an approved proctoring site or via virtual proctoring.
