Statement from WCTC President Rich Barnhouse on announcement from UWM Chancellor Mark Mone

Rich Barnhouse and Mark Mone

University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee Chancellor Mark Mone announced today he will step down from his role as chancellor next July and return to his professorship in the UWM Lubar College of Business.  The following is a statement from WCTC President Rich Barnhouse:

I have been president at Waukesha County Technical College for almost four years. Since that very first week, Chancellor Mone has been my strongest higher education partner in the region. He is a passionate advocate for students and for UWM. His legacy will be felt for decades to come: attaining an R1, top research designation for UWM, new and expanded partnerships with businesses and higher education institutions, and expansion of programming to meet the needs of our state.

Yet, he is still not done. Together we have formed, what we believe will be, a transformative partnership to deliver four-year degrees to students in Waukesha County – something that could potentially be a model for the state. We will continue to bring the UWM University Center at WCTC to life.

I will miss working with him on initiatives that will change higher education in Wisconsin for the better. I look forward to years of a continued relationship as colleagues and friends. I wish Chancellor Mone the very best in his next chapter. Congratulations and thank you, Chancellor Mone.
