Earn Transfer Credit

We're thrilled to welcome you to the WCTC family! 

WCTC makes it easy to transfer credits from other colleges and universities. Learn how to transfer credits, including submitting transcripts and understanding our transfer credit policies. We'll evaluate your previous coursework to determine which credits may apply to your WCTC program. Start your transfer process and take the next step toward your academic and career goals today.

Follow the steps below to earn transfer credit for non-WCTC courses:

Apply to WCTC

Apply for admission to one of WCTC's programs.

Send Transcripts

Request official transcripts from each previous institution you attended. Transcripts must be sent directly to the WCTC Admissions Office by mail or electronically. Transcripts sent to you first, even unopened, are considered unofficial unless sealed. Once you apply to a program and send your official transcripts, your coursework will be evaluated.

Military Transcripts

International Coursework

  • International coursework must be evaluated by a NACES-approved credentialing agency.
  • Only course-by-course evaluations are accepted.
  • You must complete a placement assessment before your international credits can be evaluated for transfer.
  • Insitutions must be formally recognized by the country's ministry of education or equivalent.

Check Your Email

You will receive an email one to two weeks after we receive your transcripts. Once admitted, view transfer credits and how they apply to your program in DegreeWorks using your WCTC username and password.

Review Credit Awarded

  • Log into your myWCTC account. Under "Academic Profile," click "View Transcript."
  • DegreeWorks also shows how your transfer credits apply toward your program requirements.

More to Know

  • Only courses with a grade of "C" (2.0/4.0 scale) or better will be reviewed for transfer credit. Time limits may apply based on the course and/or program. 
  • You must complete 25 percent of your program coursework in residence at WCTC. For certificates of 12 credits or less, you must complete at least one of the certificate courses in residence. Transfer credits do not count as credits earned in residence.
  • If you receive transfer credit, then you are exempt from taking the associated course.
  • Transfer credit may affect veteran benefits and financial aid. Review the 150 percent maximum credit policy and consult with the Financial Aid Office for more information.
  • Transfer credit is not calculated in your grade point average.

Eligible Institutions

WCTC accepts transfer credit only from institutions accredited by one of the following:

  • Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
  • Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
  • New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC)
  • Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
  • Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)
  • Any CHEA-recognized accrediting organization
  • Tertiary-level international institutions formally recognized by their country’s ministry of education

Appeals

If you wish to appeal your credit evaluation, submit a written appeal with supporting documentation within 30 days of your evaluation.
