Psychotropic Medication

Course Description

For human service professionals, gain an overview of the psychopharmacology of therapeutic drugs, over-the-counter medications, illicit drugs and alcohol that could be encountered when working with various populations. Explore the effect of drugs on the nervous system structure and brain functions. Discuss interactions, withdrawal effects, maternal and fetal effects of drugs, and the effects of drugs and alcohol on different stages of development.
