Waukesha County Technical College, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee sign articulation agreement

Select programs will transfer into UWM’s Lubar School of Business

Students in classroomPEWAUKEE, Wis. (Monday. April 26, 2021) – College students who begin their business studies closer to home in Waukesha County will now have an easier path to a four-year business degree, thanks to a recently signed agreement between Waukesha County Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The agreement will allow students to seamlessly transfer the credits from WCTC’s Business Management and Supply Chain Management associate degree programs into the UWM Lubar School of Business four-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. That program includes majors in Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain and Operations Management.

By working together, WCTC and UWM are able to provide students with added flexibility and easier access to more educational opportunities, administrators said.

“This agreement is another example of the earnest work that is happening to strengthen the relationship between WCTC and UWM,” said Brad Piazza, Ph.D., WCTC’s vice president for Learning. “Creation of these articulations ensures a smooth transition for our students.”

Added Jon Koch, associate dean in WCTC’s School of Business: “This is a huge win for our students and another example of how our two systems can work with one another to build alternative pathways to four-year degrees.”

Approximately 15% of the Lubar School’s undergraduate students and 17% of its transfer students come from Waukesha County.

“We want to do all that’s possible to welcome WCTC transfer students into business studies at UWM,” said Lubar School of Business dean Kaushal Chari, Ph.D. “Making their path to achieving a bachelor’s degree smooth and straight-forward just makes common sense.”

WCTC and UWM have similar agreements in place for students studying design, engineering, health science, social work and criminal justice.
