PEWAUKEE, Wis. (Thursday, August 22, 2019) – Julie Valadez, president and chief executive officer of the Hispanic Collaborative Network and insurance associate at Thrivent Financial, has been appointed to the Waukesha County Technical College District Board.
Valadez has consistently served the Waukesha community as a nonprofit leader, with an emphasis in helping women and minorities. She has served as board member of the Young Nonprofit Professional Network, WGIRLS and Blair Elementary School PTO; programs committee member of the Waukesha Women’s Center; and advisory committee member of La Casa de Esperanza among others.
Additionally, she has supported WCTC through her work on Cesar Chavez and Martin Luther King Jr. events, financial literacy instruction through the Multicultural Leadership Academy and registering the Hispanic Collaborative Network as an internship resource.
“I have been passionate to support WCTC, particularly because I believe strongly in the importance of the education that a technical school provides,” she said.
Valadez’s three-year term runs through June 2022, and she represents the additional member category.
Board members David Lancaster, executive vice president-employee benefits at R&R insurance, and Courtney Parkhurst, special agent with the Wisconsin Department of Justice, were also reappointed to the WCTC District Board for a three-year term ending June 2022. Both represent the employer category.
