Employer Tuition Benefits

Many area employers offer tuition benefit programs that can help you continue your education. You may be eligible to complete
job-related coursework at no cost to you!

What are employer tuition benefits?

As part of their benefits package, many area employers offer tuition benefit programs that allow employees to participate in college courses or other educational opportunities and have some or all of these costs covered by the employer. These programs are typically run through a company's human resources (HR) department. Each company may have its own policies or guidelines for tuition benefits.

Types of Tuition Benefit Programs

  • Tuition Reimbursement: Tuition reimbursement is when an employer repays employees for tuition fees or other education costs. The employee pays initial costs, and upon class completion, the employer reimburses or repays the employee. Employers typically set grade requirements for repayment.
  • Tuition Assistance: Tuition assistance, or direct tuition payment, is when an employer pays an employee's tuition fees or other education costs upfront. Similar to tuition reimbursement, employers typically set grade requirements.
