
Traffic Safety Courses
Drive Smarter
WCTC’s traffic safety courses are designed to strengthen driving knowledge, correct unsafe or illegal behaviors and support compliance with Wisconsin traffic laws. Approved by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT), these courses may also qualify participants for a reduction of demerit points on their driving record.

Traffic Safety School
This course is designed to correct and improve improper, unsafe or illegal driving habits and behaviors. Participants develop a more positive attitude toward driving and traffic laws while strengthening their knowledge of safe driving practices. Enrollment may be voluntary or required for drivers who have accumulated six or more demerit points on their record.
- Classes are held at the Downtown Waukesha Campus – 327 E. Broadway, Waukesha.
- The course lasts for a total of 15 hours.
- Attendance and active participation at all sessions are mandatory.
- Successful completion may result in a three-point reduction on your driving record.
- After registering, all communication from the department will be sent to your WCTC email account.
Group Dynamics
This course is for individuals convicted for the first time of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). Approved by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT), it is intended for participants who are not addicted to alcohol or drugs and who have been ordered to complete the course by their assessment agency. The program provides education, opportunities for reflection and strategies to reduce the risk of future impaired driving.
- Classes are held at the Downtown Waukesha Campus (327 E. Broadway, Waukesha)
- To register, you must be referred by an assessment agency, as documented on your Order for Assessment and Driver Safety Plan Report (DSP). Students who register but do not have a DSP on file with the Traffic Safety Department will be dropped from the course.
- You must register for the course within 10 business days of completing your assessment. Failure to do so will result in a noncompliance report to the DOT and may lead to the loss of your driver’s license.
- Attendance and active participation in all sessions are required. Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- The course is 21 hours in total. Successful completion may result in a three-point reduction on your driving record.
- After registering, all communication from the department will be sent to your WCTC email account.
Multiple Offender Program
This course is for individuals who have been determined to demonstrate irresponsible driving behaviors through two or more convictions for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). Students who enroll have been ordered to do so by their assessment agency. The program provides education and support for drivers whose use of alcohol or drugs has resulted in repeated impaired driving offenses, focusing on building awareness, developing strategies for change and reducing the risk of future violations.
- Classes are held at the Downtown Waukesha Campus – 327 E. Broadway, Waukesha.
- To register, you must be referred by an assessment agency, as documented on your Order for Assessment and Driver Safety Plan Report (DSP).
- You must register for the course within 10 business days of completing your assessment. Failure to do so will result in a noncompliance report to the DOT and may lead to the loss of your driver’s license.
- Students who register but do not have a DSP on file with the Traffic Safety Department will be dropped from the course.
- The course consists of 33 total hours. Successful completion may result in a three-point reduction on your driving record.
- Attendance and active participation in all sessions are mandatory. Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- A concerned individual, such as a family member, friend or support person, is required to attend two pre-scheduled sessions.
- Students must complete the three-month follow-up meeting to successfully complete the course.

Registration
Registration can be completed online, in person or over the phone.
If you need to transfer to a different section after registering, the transfer must be done give business prior to the start of the course. If you request a transfer after the course has started, you must reregister and pay the subsequent fee.

Tuition and fees are due in full by August 15 (fall semester), January 15 (spring semester) or May 15 (summer semester). For registrations on or after the tuition due date, payment is due within two weeks of registration. A $25 late fee is charged for partial or late payments.
