About the Program

68-credit associate of applied science degree program

The clinical laboratory technician (CLT), also known as a medical laboratory technician (MLT), performs analytical procedures of blood and other body fluids, under the supervision of a medical technologist or physician. Through a consortium effort, this Milwaukee Area Technical College program is being offered through WCTC. Students will work under the supervision of a medical technologist or physician in a variety of procedures, including collection and analysis of blood and other body fluids in such areas as hematology, chemistry, immunology, therapeutic drug monitoring, and microbiology. Students will also learn to perform routine analytical procedures, recognize the importance of quality control, and exercise accepted safety precautions in the collection and handling of clinical specimens.

This program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences. Graduates are eligible to write national certifying examinations.
