Youth Care Counselor
15-credit technical certificate
Designed to provide specialized training for early childhood teachers and directors working with preschool aged children. Individuals who complete this certificate are eligible to submit a portfolio of their competencies to the Wisconsin Recognition System for the Childhood Care and Education Profession registry and apply for the Wisconsin Preschool Professional Credential awarded by that agency. This certificate articulates with the Waukesha County Technical College Early Childhood Education Associate Degree.

What is a technical certificate?
A WCTC Certificate provides an excellent means for those already employed in Education, Early Child and Instructional Assistant services to cross train or to expand their knowledge through short-term training opportunities.**
** The ability to complete a full certificate may be effected by low enrollment.
How to Get Started
- Prospective certificate students do not need to complete an application for admission to WCTC.
- First semester students may register during Open Registration for General Public.
- Prerequisite and program restrictions may apply.
- After completion of the first certificate course, students declare their intent to complete a certificate.
- Second semester students are eligible to receive priority registration.
