Biomedical Electronics Technology

Getting Started

This program is only available to WCTC district residents.

Step 1.Fill out the Application

  • Fill out the Application for Admission with a paper application only.
  • You may obtain an Application for Admission from the WCTC Admissions Office, located in the WCTC College Center, room C-019 or print an application online.

Step 2. Submit application

  • Submit application with a Non-Refundable $30 application fee and $15 Criminal Background Check for a total of $45 made payable to Milwaukee Area Technical College.

Step 3. Request appropriate transcripts

  • Send official high school transcripts and/or GED/HSED scores to WCTC
  • Send official College transcripts, when applicable

Step 4. Take the COMPASS Assessment

  • The COMPASS placement test is an untimed test on the computer. This test will assess your skills in the areas of Writing, Reading, and Math.
  • The test results are used for advising and placement into appropriate courses.
  • ACT scores or other college entrance exams may exempt you from taking the COMPASS exam.
  • Once you have submitted your application and fee, you can sign up for a testing session. Stop by the Assessment Center, room C-012, call 262.695.6215, or sign up on the web.

Step 5. Attend a Program Planning Session

  • You will receive a letter from the Admissions department indicating how you register for a Program Planning Session.
  • This is the last step in the Admissions process.

Please Note: Once WCTC Admissions Office receives Application, $45 application/Criminal Background Check fee, high school or GED/HSED transcript, COMPASS test scores or equivalent scores, and the Program Planning Session, the file will be sent to MATC for review and processing (please allow 3-4 weeks after checklist items are complete). MATC-MILWAUKEE will contact you regarding the next steps to take to be fully considered for admissions.

Important: WCTC does not admit students into the Biomedical Electronics Technology program, MATC-Milwaukee is the admitting institution.

Financial Aid

If you will be applying for financial aid, apply online and please use MATC-Milwaukee code 005390. You are encouraged to apply early.

Course Work

Biomedical Electronics Technology students will take 52 credits of coursework at WCTC and 18 credits at MATC.

Payment and Policies

Students will be required to follow policies regarding admissions, financial aid, and graduation. You are responsible for WCTC’s policies regarding registration and payment. WCTC offers a payment plan or payment in full with check, cash, or credit card.
