442-301B Basic Shielded Met Arc II

In order to develop entry-level skills as a welder, the learner uses the shielded metal-arc process, all positions, welding on thin (16 gauge) and medium (1/4 inch plate) thickness of steel, single and multipass using alternating and direct current welding machines, and covered electrodes (6010, 7018, 7014). The learner gains an understanding of arc welding fundamentals, welding with safety, arc welding machines and electrode classifications and selection.
