306-638A Rosemaling 8 Weeks

Learn the 17th century Norwegian decorative art form of rosemaling; rose or flower painting. Many times names, birth dates, verses and quotations are included in the decorative design. Students will learn about the Telemark, Hallingdal, Valdres and Rogaland styles from an instructor who has studied with many of Norway's leading artists. Students will also have the opportunity to apply the techniques to their own objects in class. Pieces may include plates, cutting boards, sconces, trunks, Christmas ornaments, etc. A supply list will be handed out at the first class. Beginner and advanced students can take this course.
