Truck Driving – CDL B Straight Truck

5-credit Certificate

There is a high demand in Wisconsin and beyond for professional truck drivers. Learn to operate various types of non-combination vehicles such as short-haul delivery trucks, construction vehicles and trucks used in the sand mining, concrete or similar industries. Learn to maneuver trucks into tight parking spaces, through narrow alleys and up to loading platforms;  develop backing and driving skills through classroom, lab, range and roadway experiences; and hone skills to better communicate with fellow drivers, dispatchers, shippers, mechanics and law enforcement personnel. In addition, learn how to complete the necessary paperwork and appropriate inspections.

  • Graduates will have an opportunity to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License. A commercial driver’s instruction permit is required to participate.
  • Train in a state-of-the-art emergency driver simulator that can replicate real-life, high-risk situations within a safe environment.
  • Participants must hold a valid regular driver's license, speak and read English, and be at least 18 years of age.
  • A Department of Transportation physical examination and drug test are required for admission and employment in the industry.
