Paramedics provide advanced-level care during medical emergencies. Their quick response and competent care may mean the difference between life and death for those who are injured, wounded or sick. In the degree program, learn to manage emergency patient care and treatment by performing comprehensive patient assessments, provide advanced cardiac life support, administer medications and perform interventions.

Steps to Complete the Paramedic Technician Degree Program

Before You Apply

Complete the Paramedic Technician technical diploma program.

Apply to the Program

Apply online and pay the $30 application fee.
Submit a copy of your current (non-expired) State EMS license or NREMT certification by email to the Admissions Office.
Submit a copy of one of the following to demonstrate your reading, writing and math skills:
- High school GPA of 2.60 or above. Transcript must include completed coursework through the 11th grade.*
- ACT, ACCUPLACER® or GED - 2014 Series (165 or higher).*
- Prior college coursework may meet this requirement in whole or in part. Courses must be in the specific area(s), and you must have earned a grade of C or better (2.0 on a 4.0 scale) in the courses.*
- If none of the above apply, sign up for the ACCUPLACER® placement test.

If you have top-notch critical thinking and problem-solving skills, are physically/mentally fit, and can remain calm in stressful situations, paramedic work may be for you. Those in this field encounter different situations each time they respond to a call. They must be great listeners, as emergencies require communication between patient and responders.

$31,000 – $47,200 annually

What Makes This Program Unique

For those already licensed in the State of Wisconsin as an EMT, paramedic is recognized as the highest level of EMS licensure available within the state.
Students completing the Paramedic Technician associate degree may be eligible for the Paramedic to RN Bridge program.

Accreditation

The Paramedic Technician program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
