Grant for Girls in IT Careers
WCTC has received a $15,000 grant to raise interest of girls in IT careers.
Waukesha County Technical College has received a $15,000 grant from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) Academic Alliance Seed Fund to produce an "I Can Do IT" road show designed to engage elementary and middle school girls with hands-on activities including programming, wireless technology and website development. The WCTC road show will employ mentoring and demonstrations to hundreds of middle school girls through the Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast.
NCWIT is a national coalition of over 170 prominent corporations, academic institutions, government agencies and non-profits working to strengthen the computing workforce and cultivate technology innovation by increasing the participation of women. Find out more at www.ncwit.org.
