Description

New leaders often receive their promotions because of great technical skills, but they do not feel equipped to deal with the multiple and frustrating people problems that they are called upon to handle. Leadership and technical skills are different, needing different knowledge for success.

During this workshop we will discuss and explore the concerns, anxieties, and expectations about transitioning from worker to leader. This workshop is structured to help with the initial and dramatic changes that occur with the immersion into a leadership position. It will also help those who are considering or being considered for a promotion into a leadership position. It will also explore multiple ways of coping with the changes, and with the stress and pressures of those changes, will be presented.

  • Learn ways to better cope with the anxieties of the transition from worker to leader.
  • Explore ways to effectively lead even the most difficult people.
  • Recognize and apply the qualities/traits of an effective team leader.
  • Identify ways to develop a motivating atmosphere where their team members more willingly work to accomplish goals.
  • Examine six easy to remember checkpoints when disciplining.
  • Practice delegation skills that support new work demands and uncover better use of team members’ skills.

Please note that a light breakfast and lunch will be provided.
